Our Story
Runako Celina
FounderAs an investigative journalist, I spend my life tracking evidence, connecting fragments and following paper trails.
When I turned those same skills towards my family history in the 2010s, I expected to find names, dates, maybe a cool fact about my heritage.
Instead, I found a different way of understanding the world entirely.
Through archives, records, DNA matches and living connections, I traced my lineage across Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas and beyond.
The deeper I looked, the more I realised that stories feel different when we can see ourselves somewhere inside them.
Places that once felt distant became familiar. Stories I might once have scrolled past became personal. Histories I thought belonged to other people suddenly felt connected to my own.
The world felt closer.
That experience became ReRooted.
It combines visually compelling storytelling, investigative techniques, documentary storytelling, archives, genealogy and lived experience to uncover the stories beneath the stories. To follow the roots of today's conversations. To reveal connections hidden in plain sight.
